The Daroff Design team was requested by Disney’s executives to "stretch their imagination" to design the theme of the antebellum South. The concept for Dixie Landings 2,000 room moderately-priced hotel development was to be a mid-1800’s "Tidewater" theme, Deep South riverfront village. The firm’s designers researched both the culture and design images of this important period of American history and presented a number of images which became the "storyboard" for Dixie Landings. | steamboat business and cotton exchange, and the registration front desk area was fashioned after a steamboat ticketing office. |  |
